OverDeduct

Mihir Naik

Founder of OverDeduct. I work with emerging and mid-market CPG brands to recover the invalid deductions distributors and retailers quietly take — and I write the guides on this site.

What I do at OverDeduct

I founded OverDeduct to close a specific gap: emerging and mid-market CPG brands sell through the same distributors — KeHE and UNFI — as national brands, take the same shortage claims, MCB chargebacks, pricing discrepancies and promotional billbacks, but have no deductions analyst to fight back. Most of that money gets written off as “the cost of doing business.” A large share of it is recoverable.

My focus is the distributor lane in plain language: how deductions show up on a remittance, which ones are disputable, what proof wins, and the window you have before a valid claim becomes a lost one. I write the educational content here and oversee how it's researched and fact-checked.

What I write about

How this content is produced

Every guide leads with a direct answer and cites primary or practitioner-grade sources for the numbers it uses — distributor vendor policies, EDI standards, and named industry references. Figures like dispute windows and compliance-fee rates come from documented sources and are marked where you should confirm them against your own distributor agreement. Pages carry a “last reviewed” date and are re-checked as policies change. This is educational content, not legal, tax, or accounting advice.
